Chocobo's
Chocobo raising and color changing has been active in Eorzea since about August. We have stables for your fine feathered friend at our Free Company house which you can teleport to from the top of your teleport menu. To access the stables for either raising or color changing, you have to be level 30 and completed the quest My fiesty little chocobo located in Bentbranch Meadows (central shroud) after completing My fiesty little chocobo a new quest will become available from the same quest giver. After that you can stable your bird and begin raising them. You'll need Food to reward them with after training, Krakka root is the most common and easily grown/purchased from the market boards.
To start doing Color Change with your chocobo you will need feed. (Not the same as the food reward you give after traing.) The special feed you need are in the form of seven color change fruits, three fruits increase the RGB value of the birds feathers, and three decrease the RGB value while one fruit resets the birds feathers to the original color value. You have to feed it multiple fruits to get a notice saying that "your chocobo is growing new plumage" after 6 hours real time it'll change coloe upon selecting the stables. (You must leave the bird stabled the entire time for this to happen if you remove him it will not change color!) As for how to get certain colors you'll just have to experiment, to get a darker red reduce green add a little blue and a lot of red fruit. For green reduce red add blue and a lot of green. Blue seems to be the only one where you can just feed it the blue fruit and get the change. There are also White, and Black color changes but I have no information at this time on those.
Thavnairian Onion
This is the food you give your chocobo once it has reached rank 10 to level it up even further! Sadly though its a pain to get, if you wish to buy it on the market board you'll easily pay an arm and a leg, and growing it takes time but is much more cost efficient. So i'll list below the seeds and what to cross breed to get this rare food for your very own. (All members with chocobos have garden access and can plant whenever, but please be honest don't remove anyone elses plants, or steal them.)
First you'll need Linseed seeds and Mandrake seeds and 2 grade 3 Thanalan topsoils plant them in that and fertalize and tend like crazy! once havested they should yield an Azeyma Rose seed. if not you'll have to try again.
After you get the Azeyma Rose seeds you'll need Chamomile seeds, and 2 grade 3 thanalan topsoils. After these are done they should yield a Halone Gerbera Seed, if not try again until they do.
After you have the Halone Gerbera Seeds all you need is a set of Curiel Root Seeds, and 2 grade 3 Thanalan Topsoils. Plant them fertalize, and tend often. This will with a 50% chance result in a Thavnairian Onion Seed!
(other noted and recently prefered combos are Broombrush seeds, and Curiel Root Seeds.)
Just plant the Thavnairian Onion Seed in some grade 3 Shroud Soil, and tend often. Congrats at this stage you have grown your own thavnairian onion!
The individual seeds are sometimes sold on the market board but are often costly good luck!
